Small But Powerful
Singapore reef aquarium manufacturer Skimz will be introducing their new Monzter II Protein Skimmer at the highly anticipated pet trade show InterZoo this coming May. Details are slim at this point, but take note of the yet to be identified pump in the rendering above. Historically Skimz has sided with AquaBee pumps in their equipment line, ranging from the 2000/1 up to the larger 5000 model. This pump is clearly using an enlarged volute and based on the square placement of the screws, and overall size, we would not be surprised to see a needlewheel equipped laguna injecting into the bubble plate.
Skimz products have gained popularity in Asia, but have yet to become prominent in the North American and European markets. Like many manufactureres these days, Skimz also has a Cone skimmer, aptly named the Skimz Kone.
